Take a look at the Ghanaian artist El Anatsui, installing his work, ‘Between Heaven and Earth’ in the African galleries of the Michael C. Rockefeller Wing at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York:

“I think beauty most times doesn’t have to be an ocular one…it has to do with content as well…In many of our traditions in Africa, we don’t regard beauty as something that belongs to the eye…When you talk about a beautiful person, you are talking about someone with good character…The two are married in my work…” – ElAnatsui
